Return from Fantasy Island

I just returned from our third family vacation to Hawaii.  This trip we stayed at Poipu on the southeast shore of Kauai. A number of movies were filmed on Kauai as well as the 70s TV show Fantasy Island. This is the view of Shipwreck Beach from our hotel. 

On our first night we did the traditional luau at Smith's Tropical Paradise on the Wailua River.  Colleen and her husband Dennis are on the left, Kelly and her fiance Braun are center and Red and I are on the right.

This is the 100 foot high waterfall that we had to kayak 4 miles up the Wailua River to and then hike another 3 miles to reach it.  We were a little skeptical at first but it was definitely worth it!

This was on our trail ride at Silver Falls Ranch.  We rode in the shadow of the mountain that is the rainiest place on the planet.

I want to keep the image below burned into my mind to sustain me through the cold New Jersey winter.  We hope to return to Kauai in Summer 2011 to do all the cool things we didn't have time to do. Aloha and mahalo Kauai!

Sea Girt 5K

This past Sunday I ran in a 5K race in Sea Girt, N.J. This is the 3rd year I participated in the race with my husband , my daughters and other members of his extended family. This year there were 13 competitors from the Brady Bunch, including 7 year old Tyler who ran with the big boys for the first time. My time was just over 42 minutes which sounds terrible, but I was pretty pleased since it was 7 minutes faster than last year. I really want to keep training throughout this year and shoot for between 35 and 40 minutes next year. Here's a picture of most of the Brady Bunch that participated.

In addition to training for the race, I have been riding Clue 3 or 4 times a week and I can now canter over cross rails. I'm going to attempt to post a short video since I got a new Nikon Coolpix digital camera that takes short video clips.
